  • Barcelona Breakfast

My darling husband decided that for breakfast he wanted 'the Spanish' experience.

To be perfectly honest I am still not sure he knows what that is, or what that means.

But anyway, we set off and eventually sat down here, were we had ham omelets (because we were famished), no not even Spanish experience omelets, but much appreciated none the less.

This restaurant was in the Placa Reial in Barcelona.

    Thanks to Google Maps

    EDIT-

I just noticed Miss E's expression in this picture.  We made a very important discovery on this trip about Miss E.  Choosing food in foreign countries really stresses her out.  She likes travel and likes seeing new things, but the food side of things really really causes her worry.

I am so pleased that we got to see what was behind her demeanor that day, and that God dropped that little thought into my Spirit, she seemed so much more at ease when I asked her if that was the problem (as she just suddenly went sour).  Once we understood her panic we could help her gently through the moment and help find her foods she was more at ease with!

After breakfast we headed off down the very famous La Rambla, which was just waking up to the day ahead.

  • Mad dog English men in Barcelona....

Who would have thought that the days we chose to go to Barcelona would be the eve of the Chelsea Barcelona game?

Every mad dog English man was in Barcelona with us!!!

Chelsea fan's gathered at La Ramblas at an Irish pub in the afternoon before the game.  Their singing/chanting could be heard all over La Ramblas...

Still it was magnificent, the weather was perfect and we had a wonderful time.

Below is the apartment that we rented.

It was very rustic, minimalistic, large and well priced and fitted us all in easily.
It was 5 min walk to anywhere where we needed to be.

We were quite scared pulling up to the apartment at 2:00 am given there was a lot of people still out and about, and some sleeping in doorways.
The taxi driver told my husband (we were in seperate cabs) that there were lots of vagrant's about.

We walked off down the dark alley until our very kind land lady waved over the balcony to us to let us know where we were.

These were taken during the day, but I am sure it will give you a taste of what it might have been like in the wee hours of the morning.

Tired little babies the next day...

The little loft bed that the children loved....

I think they thought they were in Little House on the Prairie.

    The view from the bed....

Anyway, stay tuned for more from Barcelona!

  • What type of people.....

.....pack up a family of 7 and head off for foreign shores?

    Well we did.

We packed up all our most treasured possessions.
    Some went into storage,

a lot was sold and one square meter of boxes was sent ahead to the UK on our behalf.

We left life as we know it in Sydney NSW Australia.

And anticipated our new adventure in Cheshire UK.

But before we got there, we took 10 days off in Thailand.

Oh such sweet memories we have.
